The 08 team beat the heat and all of the competition saturday at Concord Speedway. As tempuratures rose to low 90's, keeping hydrated and getting a win was very high on the whole team's list of things to do. And who could blame them: Jay hasn't had a win since the last race of 2008, and generally 2009 hasn't been the best of year so far. However, all of that changed saturday as the team figured out the setup of the car and dominated the weekend at Concord.
At Qualifying, Jay set a pole-winning lap of 17.382, just 0.02 seconds faster than Kenny Brooks' time of 17.392. What made the day even better was the fact that Jay not only qualified in the pole, but he also drew the 1st starting position. After qualifying the car was pretty much left un-touched. Then it was time to race.
Most of the action during the race happened behind the 08 machine, which led every single lap. The most competition Jay recieved was from the 34 car of Kenny Brooks, who had his nose up to Jay's driver side door coming out of the last turn on lap 35. It didn't last long though: Kenny got a little loose coming out of turn 1, but did a very good job of making sure he didn't take out any cars in the process. Jay went on to complete the last few laps, claim the checkered flag, and leave all troubles from previous weeks behind.
